STEPS TO DESIGNING YOUR GARDEN
1.Take a sheet of paper and write down everything you want your garden to be, DREAM BIG!! Think about the feelings you want to create when you are in the finished product & what it will need to achieve that desired outcome
2. Get out your site map or measure up your site
3. Do a soil test - this will include a drainage test and a PH test, including assessing the texture of the soil
4. Identify on the site plan where your entrance is, can you move it to improve the design?
5. Look at the location of driveway / carpark - again see if you can move it to improve the design or perhaps it is ideal where it is right now
6. Once you have decided on the design and layout of drive way and car park, draw this into your plan
7. Boundary Treatment - Decide what areas you want privacy / shelter and what type of boundary you want (ie) plants, fence, wall etc.,
8. Best Frost Resistant Hedges - Laurel, Beech, Whitethorn, Cotoneaster, Hornbeam, Red Robin, Holly, Leylands, Elaeagnus, Privet, Berberis
9. Dress up existing walls by painting them or put some trellis or Willow screening on the wall
10. Suggested Climbers For Walls - Hedera Paddy's Pride, Hedera Sulphur Heart, Red Ivy, Lonicera Sclerotina ( Honeysuckle) or Clematis
Climbers can also be used to dress up picket fencing and chain links wire fencing

Roses
Posted on March 16, 2012 | No CommentsGrowing Roses In my opinion a garden is simply not a garden without a Rose. One reason you may be a little hesitant about planting Roses is the thought that Roses need a lot of work! This is a very common perception, but not altogether true. When you choose the right Rose, put it in the right... -
